Hi friends,
One of the best negotiation tactics is right in front of you:
Watch how recruiters negotiate with you!
Many recruiters are proficient at the art of gentle power:
→ They frame questions strategically
→ They use battle-tested responses that protect their leverage
→ They stay professional under pressure
→ They follow up consistently
→ They often make the relationship feel close and positive
Do the same with them and all the other interviewers!
→ When you’re negotiating, be mindful of how you frame your questions and asks
→ Always stay professional
→ Keep the relationship positive
→ Be gentle and respectful with negotiations
One caveat: this is not about simply mirroring recruiters.
Certainly learn from what they do well.
But also stay true to your values no matter what:
Stay cordial and professional.
Don’t overshare even if encouraged or pressured to do so.
And don’t take things personally.
Best,
Gerta & Alex
